FAQs
Will I need to water more with fabric pots?
Because our pots have improved drainage and aeration, you may need to water more frequently depending on the soil blend you use and the temperature. You can use water-holding soil blends to reduce the frequency of watering while still getting the aeration benefits of fabric pots.
What size fabric pot should I use for my Plants?
The perfect pot depends on the needs of your plant - we include the height and diameter of all pots in the description so that you can quickly verify that you have the correct root depth and width for your plant.
Shallow rooting plants thrive in 12-18” root depths, and typically dont require more than 6-12” diameter in width to grow.
- These tend to be leafy greens & herbs, but can also include potatoes and even broccoli!
Medium Rooting Plants will thrive with 18-24” root depth and around 2 feet in diameter of width.
This encompasses most other common garden vegetables, like tomatoes, peppers, carrots, squash, peas, beans, and some herbs like rosemary.
- If you’re in a pinch, we recommend asking your local garden store or consulting reliable online resources
How much soil do I need for each pot?
You can refer to our soil volume chart for info on how much soil each pot will take to fill. Because bag sizes vary, we have our chart in 1.5 CuFt bag measurements, with yard measurements for larger pots. If you are unsure about how much you might need, you can send us an email at contact@geopot.com and we will do our best to help out!
How do I clean my fabric pots?
Cleaning fabric pots is easy!
- If you are removing your soil for the season, empty the pot and remove as much debris from the pot as you can, give it a good rinse with a hose or pressure washer, and allow it to dry out. You can use a Shop Vac to remove any additional debri before the next step.
- From there, you can soak your pots in an oxidizing detergent like OxiClean with some warm water and agitate by hand, or simply wash them in your washing machine with warm water. This will also sanitize your pots for future use!
